Budget Commission Approves Three Revenue Certificates During Brief Regular Meeting


Budget Commission Meeting – October 20, 2025


Meeting Details: The Geauga County Budget Commission met in Regular Session on Monday, October 20, 2025 at 10:00 am in the Auditor's Conference Room, 215 Main Street, Chardon, Ohio. The meeting was in person with a virtual attendance option via MS Teams. To attend Budget Commission meetings virtually via MS Teams, email an invitation request to Pam McMahan at PMcMahan@geauga.oh.gov.  


Meeting Attendance: Prosecutor Jim Flaiz and Auditor Chuck Walder. Treasurer Chris Hitchcock was absent.


Staff Attendance: Deputy Auditors Tammy Most and Kristen Sinatra, Chief Operations Officer Pam McMahan, and Assistant Prosecuting Attorney Kristen Rine (virtual).


County Staff: Budget and Finance Manager Adrian Gorton (virtual).


Members of the Public: This LWV Geauga Observer (virtual).


The meeting was called to order at 10:03 am.


Minutes: Minutes for the Special Meeting on September 29, 2025 and the Regular Meeting on October 6, 2025 were both approved. Minutes are available here when posted.


The following Revenue Certificates were approved:

  • Chardon Local Schools - Amendment #2 - $57,670,448.87 in the general fund, $6,257,510.23 in special revenue funds, $451,477.43 in debt service funds, $4,278,978.40 in capital project funds, $9,275,200.22 in internal service funds, and $95,642.98 in fiduciary funds for a total of $78,029,258.13.

Chardon Schools’ amendment reflected increases in the general fund ($899,399), special revenue funds ($230,726.66), and capital project funds ($480,000).

  • Chardon Township - Amendment #3 - $1,034,295.89 in the general fund, $3,582,149.98 in special revenue funds, $49,167.93 in debt service funds, and $746.48 in fiduciary funds for a total of $4,666,360.28.

Chardon Township’s amendment certified a road and bridge special revenue fund increase of $48,757.

  • Geauga County - Amendment #12 - $69,339,402.59 in the general fund, $126,349,571.84 in special revenue funds, $5,172,649.58 in debt service funds, $1,143,702.06 in special assessment funds, $31,045,528.76 in capital project funds, $52,255,044.13 in enterprise funds, $1,759,600.37 in internal service funds, and $4,706,706.85 in fiduciary funds for a total of $291,772,206.18.

Geauga County’s amendment reflected an increase of $750,000 in the building improvement capital projects fund.
