It is our goal that each and every candidate, issue spokesperson, and voter will take advantage of this opportunity to affirm the value of our democratic processes.

Forum Schedule


The League of Women Voters of Geauga will host one candidate forum prior to the May 5, 2026, Primary Election. The forum will take place at the Bainbridge Library on Thursday, April 9, 2026. The event starts at 6:30 p.m. and doors will open at 6 p.m. This event is free and open to the public.


Each race is subject to the LWVG Empty Chair Policy, which has been updated as of June 2023. Please note that the League will not communicate reasons for non-participation from candidates.

Who is attending


Question Submission


Your questions for participating candidates and issues spokespeople can be submitted online via our portal until the following deadline:
  • Submission Deadline 
    • Question portal is OPEN until 4/8 at 6 p.m.
If you prefer, you can also email your questions to HeyCandidates@lwvgeauga.org.
Questions may also be submitted in-person at each event beginning at 6 p.m. when doors open up until each particular race begins at the forum.

PLEASE NOTE: Candidates do not see questions ahead of time, nor does the LWVG event moderator or event team. The only individuals reviewing questions are the 3-member LWVG question screener panel at each event. Please follow these specific criteria when drafting your question in order for it to be considered. Please note that not all question may be asked due to time constraints and/or criteria not being met.

QUESTION CRITERIA & Portal


For Questions to Be Considered at a League of Women Voters of Geauga Candidate Forum, they must be:


Relevant

  • Is the question pertinent to the office? For example, a township trustee has no control over the Affordable Care Act.

Clearly Stated

  • Is the question presented in clear, unambiguous language that is easily understood?

Concise

  • Does the question only include necessary and important details?

Focused

  • Does the question focus on one, specific question? Multiple-part questions are less likely to be asked.

Informative

  • Is the question likely to elicit responses that help voters make informed choices?
